Things people ask.

Yes — your skin shows to all Java Edition players on any server that allows custom skins (most do). On Bedrock, visibility depends on the server's settings.
Any time. Build a new penguin, download it, re-upload to minecraft.net. Minecraft holds one skin at a time — your new penguin replaces the old one instantly.
Standard 64×64 pixel PNG — the same format Minecraft has used since 2012. It works with all versions of the game.
Try logging out of minecraft.net and back in, then re-uploading. If others still can't see it, they may have "only show default skins" enabled in their settings, or the server may block custom skins.

Built for the
penguin
in all of us.

Built by Kiasmos in a single morning because he wanted a penguin skin and couldn't find a good builder. Now it's free for everyone. No accounts. No ads. No catch.

Crown penguin

Built on a Sunday
morning with his dad. Because
penguins deserved better.

How it started

Kiasmos has loved penguins for as long as he can remember. There's something about them — formally dressed, slightly ridiculous, waddling with complete confidence through a world that wasn't built for them. He saw himself in that.

When he wanted a penguin skin for Minecraft, he did what anyone does: he searched for a builder. There wasn't one. Not a real one. Not one that let you actually design something — choose your body colour, put on a wizard hat, give yourself sparkle eyes. Nothing.

One morning

So on a Sunday morning with his dad, Kiasmos built it. He sat down, opened a code editor, and made exactly the penguin skin tool he wanted to exist in the world. It took one morning — a Sunday, with his dad alongside him. The penguin he made wore a top hat and had galaxy colouring. He was very pleased with it.

Then he thought: other people probably want this too. So he made it free. Cleaned it up, gave it a name, and put it online. No ads. No accounts. No catch. Just the tool he'd wished existed, now available to anyone who needs it.

Why it's free

The Penguin Room costs nothing because it was never a business idea. It was a personal project that got shared. Kiasmos isn't trying to monetise your penguin. He just thinks more people should be penguins in Minecraft, and he had the tools to make that happen.

If you want to support the server costs so it stays fast and online, there's an option for that. But your penguin comes first. Always.

The name

The Penguin Room. Because it felt right. There's a room — a specific, dedicated space — where you go to become a penguin. Not a factory. Not a generator. A room. Quiet, focused, entirely for you and your penguin.

Kiasmos finds that funny and also sort of moving. He hopes you do too.

"I wanted a penguin skin. There was no good builder. So I made one on a Sunday morning with my dad. Now it's free for everyone. That's the whole story."

What penguins say.

"Made my penguin in literally two minutes. Wizard hat, galaxy body, sparkle eyes. It's the most me I've ever been in Minecraft."

@nebula99
Galaxy wizard

"My kids used it to build their penguin skins and now they refuse to use any other skin. I'm a bit jealous of how good they look honestly."

@parent_mc
Parent of two penguins

"I've been playing Minecraft for eight years. This is the first skin I've ever actually felt proud of. It's pink. It has a bow. It's perfect."

Honest answers.

Yes. Completely. No account, no payment, no email required. Build your penguin, download it, be a penguin. The donate option exists for people who want to help keep it free for everyone else.
Server hosting, CDN costs to keep the site fast, developer time for new features and bug fixes, and occasionally food for the developer. No investors, no ad revenue, no catch — just running costs.
Our genuine gratitude, and the warm knowledge that you've helped keep this free for every penguin who comes after you. No special features — that would defeat the point of "free forever."
Donations are non-refundable, but if something went wrong technically, get in touch and we'll sort it out.
Please tell us. Genuinely. Use the contact form or reach out directly. Every bug report helps, and some of the best features came from player suggestions.
Why not penguins? They waddle. They're formally dressed. They're ridiculous and magnificent in equal measure. You were always one. We just made the tool to prove it.
